Happy Valentines Day

We went a lil low-key this year for Valentines. After all, we don't need a special holiday to share our love with each other, we do it every day (right?!)! Kerrington and Kellan were thrilled with their Valentines surprises this year, and let's be honest, it doesnt' take much for an almost 4 year old, and 2 year old.

I hope y'all had a special Valentine's and are feelin the love...

The Nutcracker

I have memories growing up as a little girl getting all dolled up to go see the Nutcracker with my grandma. It's something I'll always cherish and keep dear to my heart. Just a couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to snag a couple tickets to the Nutcracker that a friend was giving away! I thought, what better time, than to start this tradition with my very own daughter and her grandma! So, tonight, Kerrington had the distinct opportunity to go out to pizza and the Nutcracker with her 'Mamaw'. I hope this becomes a special memory for her as well!

She CAN do it!

I can't even begin to tell you how big of a sigh of relief it is to see this picture!!! My daughter, can write her name!!! And not even that (watch out...totally bragging here), she's three! But let me say, I can take none of the credit. Our choice, although a sacrifice, to send her to pre-school has turned out to be such a blessing, in more ways than one!

We joked that we weren't really thinking too well when we gave her a name that had 10 letters in it. For awhile, I just knew she'd be the kid in class that never could write out her forever-long name. But turns out, I was wrong! She CAN do it! I'm amazed day after day the knowledge and growth that she takes away from this program. I love it!!! We're so thankful that God has worked it out so that we have been able to provide this opportunity for her, and that she has been blessed with such dedicated teachers that love her dearly and teach her!

A Day at the Playground

It was a beautiful January afternoon...so what'd we do? We visited our playground!
I love that these two are so close...they sure do know how to have fun! Now that lil brother is getting bigger and able to keep up, Sis has a playmate (or more like someone to tell what to do). They surely have their moments, don't get me wrong, but it's pretty typical to see K walking around and KB not too far behind.

That magic number

You always think of that magic number when you hold you little baby in your arms as they're sleeping so peacefully...ya know, they one where they're old enough to stop taking naps. Ok, so maybe it isn't so magic, it's probably more like a (HUGE) fear, at least for me. I had dreams of my children desiring naps until they were, um, out of my house? Just like everything else, my little princess, has gone against the grain, or at least my grain. Kerrington has fought napping for as long as
I could remember. She's never been the cuddle up and 'let's just relax here on the couch' kinda kid. At about the age of 2 she started totally refusing naps, all together. I was panicked. With a new baby on the way, I just wasn't willing to give that up, I knew I was going to need the quiet, or rest myself. So, I made her sit in her bed and 'read'. After a little while, I got her back on a routine of napping. Lately, the only way I'd get her to fall asleep was if I laid down with her. I didn't have any problem with that because, hey, who doesn't enjoy a mid-afternoon snooze.

Well, for about the past two weeks we were having a rough time with Kerrington waking up in the morning and being, a-hem, pleasant. It was probably because she was up until 10:30ish the night before playing/singing/talking in her bed. I had a revelation. It was because of her napping during the day. So, this week, I figured I'd give it a try. In the past, without a nap, lil miss was in full melt down mode promptly at 6:00 pm. But, since time had passed, I wondered if she could handle it. Sure enough, she's doin in. And guess what else? She is HAPPY in the morning! Probably because she falls asleep at 8:00, like most normal 3 year olds.

So, unfortunately, we've reached another milestone. I think it's official. My baby has given up her nap. BUT....I'm still not willing to say it's all over...I will make her lay down with me every once in awhile...I just can't give up my cuddles all together now.

Christmas Traditions 2012

So, we've made a few Christmas traditions throughout the past couple years, it's so much fun to experience these with kids. I hope these memories last for my babies...

First....
Reindeer food!

Oats and sprinkles....yummy!

Brother gets to get in on the fun this year!

Second:
Birthday cake baking for Jesus

What.a.goofball!

Third:
Christmas jammies

Yay for presents!

Aw, they love them!

Cutie

Handsome dude

Fourth:
Handwritten notes to Santa

or scribbles

(continuation of first)
setting out the food for the reindeer

Sparkly

Fifth:
Milk and cookies for Santa

(second continued)
finished cake for Jesus

looks delicious, right?!

This is our first year to celebrate Christmas in our new home. It's SO much fun. I wish this time of year didn't fly by so quickly, but with all the hustle and bustle, of course it does. With these traditions, my lil ones can (hopefully) focus on the real meaning of this time of year: faith, and family.

S.C. on a Firetruck

Did you know that here in Georgia, Santa comes around on a Fire Truck? How cool is that?! Even better, he hands out candy canes! Tonight, he came by our house...

We waited outside for a looong time!

Anticipation...

"Don't worry brother, he's coming!"

Waiting, waiting, waiting...

He's here! He came!

Sis was all about it...she couldn't wait to see him!

And there he goes! Short and sweet.

So funny story. We waited and waited for Santa to come right. He came it was great. Then he left. AS SOON AS he got back on that fire truck, the flood gates open. K just lost it! I couldn't figure out why she was so upset (besides the obvious), until I got her to calm down. Here's (something like) how our conversation went:
Me: What's wrong Kerrington, why are you so upset?
K: (sobbing) He didn't kshilwlaknskhu...
Me: He what?
K: He didn't bring my princess thing! (What she asked Santa for Christmas)
Me: Ohhhh! Baby, it's not Christmas yet, hunny! You have to wait a little longer. Come on inside, let's go look at the countdown to see how much longer until he visits our house and brings presents.

Funny, right? She thought Santa was bringing her the present she asked for that night. Why wouldn't she! Thank goodness I had made a paper ring countdown so that she could visualize how much longer until Christmas. Whew...dodged a bullet.
