A Fireman Birthday Party

Kellan turns 3 on December 4th. This year, that ends up being right in the middle of the week, so we threw him a birthday party the weekend before. He didn't request anything  specific, but since he loves all things locomotive nowadays, we decided on a fire truck theme. Like with most things in life, I'm not the best planner, but things came together perfectky, and most importantly, our lil 3 year old had a blast!

Coloring table...notice the fire hats on the windowsill? Yeah, those were party favors that I forgot to give out. Good job, Stacy.

Happy Birthday!

Homemade (cake by mamaw, decorating and icing by mommy), thank-you-very-much, cookie cake!

Look who showed up to the party! In Kellan's words, " It was awesome!"

Little kids and big kids alike joined in on the fun!

The birthday boy checkin out the inside!

Tryin on a REAL helmet!

Sister joined in on the fun!

Our party guests!

Cake time!

All he wanted to do was blow out a candle.

Opening some COOL presents.

Little brother enjoyed the par-tay. He had a cute lil fireman onsie on for the occasion too.

Such a fun day, and we're so happy to celebrate our lil man's third birthday! It's crazy to think, you've been around for three whole years. Here's to you, Kellan Bull!

Happy 1 Month Keaton Jay!

Keaton! You're one month old today! Like always, this month has sure flown by! You're the perfect addition to our family. We all love you so very much. I hope you can feel that! A little bit about you in this first month:

  • You're a great eater. You took to breast feeding immediately. You love to eat, and I love the time we have together when you do. You're eating every 2 1/2-3 hours during the day and nursing on and off throughout the night. You're my snuggle buddy at night, I often fall asleep while you're nursing and when I wake up you're usually just sleeping away next to me!
  • You're a good sleeper. You sleep a lot (I'm not complaining).  I love holding you while you sleep...it seems to be the best sleep you get.
  • You've spent the majority of your life so far being held. I don't believe you can spoil a baby, and if you can, I don't care. I know this time is precious, and soon enough you'll rather be playing than me holding you so I'm taking advantage of all I can get.
  • You didn't have to be on the bilirubin lights! Praise God! You managed to skip that and not follow in the footsteps of your brother and sister. Your jaundice did increase, but thankfully, but your fifth day it had started to decline.
  • You're still in newborn clothes. The 0-3 month clothing I've tried on you still seems too big.
  • I switched you to size 1 diapers just last week, right before your 1 month birthday. Your lil tush fit perfectly in the NB diapers. We mostly switched because we ran out of the NB and have plenty of the size ones.
  • I've noticed some sleepy smiles and I think I saw your first real smile on November 1st. You definitely smiled today...I captured it on my phone camera. Those smiles are so sweet.
  • I think you're starting to look a lil more like your big brother. I notice more when you're sleeping. Only time will tell.
  • Your eyes are still blue. I'm holding out that maybe you'll have your daddy's eyes. Right around the black of your eye is a very light blue color...maybe, just maybe it'll turn hazel?
  • You scream most of the time you're in your car seat. I told daddy that I figured you didn't like the car seat, but then I realized....you just don't like not being held. I can't blame you! I don't like not holding you! It's torture to hear you cry like that...breaks mommy's heart.
  • Your big brother and sister are just in love with you. They think you're great and love to give you kisses and hold you.
  • I'm taking a daily picture of you and posting it to Instagram. I love the idea of seeing you change throughout your first year. It'll be fun to look back on.
  • You experienced your first Holiday already...Halloween. You were a lobster and were the cutest thing! You went out trick or treating, but you were in a sling on me, and sleeping.

Here are some pictures of you on your 1 month birthday:

Pretty boy!

Next to Pooh (we've used this with brother and sister)

The bigs of course had to get in on the pictures!

Love this life. Wouldn't trade it for anything!

These are my favorites from the pictures I snapped on my phone. The top left is the one of you smiling!

Happy 1 month Keaton Jay. I love you more than you could ever imagine, sweet boy!

Donuts with Dad

Today, Growing in the Son held their annual Donuts with Dads day. It's a morning where the kids dads get to come in and have donuts with their kids. Kerrington was so excited and talked about it for days. She even picked out the dress she wanted to wear for her daddy.

Our kids are blessed with a daddy who loves them and would do anything for them. They've got a special bond and relationship with him that will grow and expand throughout the years. I'm so thankful for them.

*and can I just point out the obvious....they look like their daddy!
