Kellan Bull officially turned two at 1:55pm today. Although when you ask him he points with his pointer finger over top of his middle finger, and says 'treeh' (or something like that...not sounding like 'two'). I say this every time, but I can't believe it. Those people that tell you to cherish them while they're young because time goes by so quickly, aren't kidding. I.just.can't.believe that my baby is two years old now.
His actual birthday fell on a Tuesday, and of course, we've got to get up and moving for Sissy's school, and I had a meeting at church. So, we had to wake him up, and I pray I never forget his face as soon as his eyes opened (I tried to etch it in my memory as it happened!). We called out his name, and he opened his eyes, laying on his pillow, and through the slats in his bed, we saw our sweet lil guy, smile. Melt my heart. We proceeded with a serenade of 'Happy Birthday!'
We (mostly Drew) blew up a pack of balloons and had them in his room for when he woke up...lemme tell you that was a hit with both the Humphreys children. You can totally steal it...I found it from someone else too!
Next there was a small present waiting for him out in the living room (we'll celebrate more with a party this weekend). Sissy assisted, of course.
Another Tonka truck! A boy can't have too many of these (I'm quickly discovering).
Birthday pancakes.
The tradition of the Pooh comparison.
And a lil salute to being TWO!
While I was in my meeting, the sweet ladies that watched KB and his buddies so graciously gave them all cupcakes for a special treat! I thanked and thanked them for the potential mess they'd have to clean up! After the meeting we went to none other than, Chick-fil-a for a birthday lunch with a few friends.
Back at home and after nap we had more fun with the balloons!
Next we went for a run together and stopped at Mamaw's and Papaw's for dinner!
And of course, another cupcake!
Finally, the birthday boy in his birthday suit!
I hope it was a fun-filled day for the memory books! This (big) lil guy is super special in my heart (as most moms of boys know). He is super loving, and gentle (most of the time). He has a calm spirit, but is also a boy. He's cautious (unlike his sister), but loving, and caring. I love seeing him grow and learn, and see his personality develop (I wasn't sure if he'd be exactly like sister, or develop a mind of his own). Although, he loves to follow sis around and do whatever she's doing, which means (sadly) he's pushing a shopping cart, dressing up, or holding a baby most of the time (maybe his wife will thank me for that one day?). He doesn't get in trouble too often, and his will is no where near as strong as ahem, someone else I know. He's not as talkative either, but I've been assured that sometimes that's just the difference between boys and girls. He's not interested in potty training, but I prepared myself that there was no way I'd get off the hook as easy as I did with his sister.
He's my baby boy, and I'm proud and thankful that he's a momma's boy. I love how he smiles and laughs, it brings joy to my heart. And boy, oh boy, does he have a big 'ol bottom lip. That thing comes out the second he gets disciplined and I think he knows full well it's a ploy to get some lovin. He's our true southern boy...the only one of us actually born in the south. Oh, and maybe this goes with the last sentence..he is a lady charmer! Doesn't matter, young or old. He can reel them in sometimes with just a look! He's not shy either...his first crush (a dear friend of mine, and not to mention, married woman), has been well, shall I say, um, slightly violated by my lil guy. He loves to be a naked baby (run around after baths, nakey). He's a big ol boy...look for another post with stats from his 2 year well check up.
I love, love, love my Kellan Bull Humphreys.
