Potty Bootcamp

"Drew's gone...why not potty train my son?" Yup, those were my actual thoughts. I'd actually been thinking about accomplishing this feet for a little while now, but as the days drew closer, I was more and more confident that it wouldn't work. And I was ok with that. I thought I'd give it a try...our pediatrician said that it'd be easier during the summer months since it'd be warmer outside. I also figured it'd be a good time because Drew's not a fan of messes, and I assumed I'd be dealing with a lot of messes, so better to do when he'd have no idea, right?

I talked this up to our lil guy, and let's just say, he wasn't buyin it. Every time I suggested a 'pee' in the potty, I got a flat out, "No". With our independent lil chic, she was more than willing, and interested, so this made my confidence dwindle even more. So as the day approached, I didn't have any real drawn out plan, I wasn't even sure at what point I'd try during Drew's two week trip, but I was going to give a good ol' try. I did know that I was going with the naked approach...just let him run around free as can be (little did I know I'd be introducing a new found freedom to our lil jaybird).

Drew left Thursday, we woke up Friday, and of course, I thought, today is as good of a day as any, so let's just give it a shot...

(warning, naked booty pictures ahead)

Day 1....playing with potty near. I carried that sucker around every where that lil touchey went.

Wouldn't you know that my stinker didn't do a single thing on that potty from 8:45 until 11:55?! With every 10 min potty attempts!!!!

At 11:55, as we sat in the kitchen, my lil Drew had a tiny dribble, alerted momma, and we finished on the potty! Hooray!

Potty chart with stickers as incentive.

We had a few minor accidents during the afternoon, but no floods (thank goodness).

I broke away from the 'no undies' rule for a trip over to Mamaw and Papaw's house. KB hadn't um, gone #2, all day, but I don't think we could have realized where the first duce would go...
he dropped it in my mom's cabinet...yes, that's right. Thankfully, he let me know right afterwards, and we were able to contain the mess and promptly flush the poopie down the potty, where it's supposed to go.

Day 2 brought more potty success! I was gaining confidence that this might actually work!

Super excited for a dump truck that momma gave him as a potty prize!

After a few days of success...we went and got ourselves a potty present. My boy did it. We were potty trained in a weekend! Way to go big guy! We're workin on night-time, but I am more than thrilled that we're out of diapers for the mean time....
