Rough week!

This was a pretty rough week for me. Mentally, physically, and emotionally I was just plain exhausted. I am starting to feel the 'extra load' I'm carrying around, especially after working a 12 hour shift at the hospital. I had a really hard day of work on Tuesday, and ended up catching a cold with symptoms showing up that very same day. About an hour before I was supposed to leave, a page came in for a lil baby who was questionably abused. After stabilizing the baby and sending it upstairs to the PICU all the weight of the day and that situation fell on me... needless to say I fell apart. It's hard to understand why these things happen sometimes, it just doesn't seem fair. So, thank the Lord, I was able to talk to my mom and dad on the way home, and my amazing husband left rehearsal early to come home and take care of me. I felt like I never needed him more. I am truly blessed. The next few days were rough just because I was fighting a nasty cold with no medicine! My only help was a humidifier at night! Thankfully, I am now starting to feel much better and can breathe through my nose for most of the day! Ha! I know for sure that there is no way I could have made it through these past couple of days if it weren't for my incredible mom who came over on Thursday and made me food and ordered me to rest! She's the best! And absolutely no doubt that I couldn't have made it without my loving husband who took over all the chores, brought me food, tissues, water, anything I needed, especially some TLC. I love him so much.
Seeing everything I do at the hospital can be pretty discouraging at times... I'm not sure I'd have any hope if it weren't for my faith and relationship with the Lord. God is good, and this world can be pretty evil at times. What would I do without Him?

A work in progress...

Yesterday Drew and a gentleman from church finished the chair rail in the baby room! So far, all we had done was paint the room. This definitely added so much to the room. We've picked out the furniture we want, all we have to do is get it. Time is quickly slipping away too. We've decided to pick out decor for both a boy and girl room. What we haven't decided is whether we'll buy both or wait... as it gets closer Drew is growing more anxious for it to be "complete". I on the other hand, don't mind as much, but that's probably just my personality. These pics are of what it looks like so far.

The test!

I just got back from spending the morning at the OB's office...not my idea of fun! It didn't end up being as bad as I thought it would be though. I enjoyed reading all the pregnancy magazines and watching everyone filter in and out of the office. I even saw a co-worker there! I had to be there all morning for the 3 hour glucose test since I failed the first one. I'll find out results tomorrow. Keep praying! I have worried some over the thought of being a gestational diabetic...like I'm doing something wrong, or messed up somehow. But, when I get back in the word, or take some time to pray about it I'm comforted in knowing that the baby and I are in God's hands and He is taking care of us. It won't be the end of the world (I guess, haha) if I am diagnosed with GD... I just hope a 11 pound baby doesn't come out of me!!!

Speaking of babies... I finally had another baby dream. I haven't had very many vivid dreams until lately. I have read that dreams do become more vivid during pregnancy due to all the hormones (what else?). Last night's dream mostly consisted of me trying to breastfeed a baby GIRL!!! Hmm....I'm not sure if that means anything or not. I sure was fun waking up and pondering the thought of a lil baby girl in my arms in less than 3 months though! It also confirmed my obsession or desire for breast feeding!!

A lil R&R

We just got back from our vacation to Florida. It was fantastic! Definitely needed it after the crazy holiday time and before the big day comes! Originally, we had planned on a cruise with my parents for this time of the year, but then we were blessed with a lil babe on the way so we had to make a change of plans! Instead we headed down to Ft. Meyers Beach (with Aaron also!) and rented a condo for the week. It wasn't busy, or full of places to go, most of our day was spend laying in the sand soaking up the sun. Our typical day was to wake up with sun, get some breakfast and head out to the beach. After spending the rest of the morning working on our tans, we broke for lunch and either headed back out, took a nap, swam in the pool, or did a little thrift shopping. Most evenings we ate dinner at home, and relaxed, going to bed quite early just so we could wake up and do it again! That's my idea of a vacation. We dreamed of what this would look like next year with a little one with us... how fun is that going to be. Here's a few pics of our time down south.

Blessed Christmas!

This time of the year is so much fun. It is so easy to get stressed with all the buying of gifts, and places to visit and such, but when it's all over I can't help but think how blessed we are. I love being with family and friends... it really makes you grateful for what you have.

A bit...overwhelmed

It seems as if life is being thrown at us suddenly. Lately my head has been a jumbled mess thinking about all it means to have a baby and how it is going to effect our life. I also tend to keep a lot of things to myself which doesn't help either. With Christmas literally around the corner, and a vacation in the new year, I am concerned that we're gonna be knocked upside the head come March when we deliver. Also, I recently found out that I might not have enough paid time to take a whole 12 weeks off with the baby. This was a HUGE blow to me and really upset me. On top of that Drew and I are trying to figure out the housing market and see if there is better re-financing options out there for us.

Sometimes I feel as though things are being fed into my brain but nothing is leaving and soon I'm gonna blow up! I'm hoping all this is normal 'worrying' that comes with being a mother. I've read in my pregnancy books that this does happen, but I definitely didn't think it would be this big of a deal! Behind all of this 'worrying' and stress I do know deep down that our Lord and Savior is walking right along with us in this journey. It's comoforting to know that He is watching over us and although it does seem stressful and difficult, that He is in control. Whew! Thank goodness I'm not...because we'd surely be in trouble if I was. I just have to remind myself sometimes to stop and take a deep breath and know that it will work out, that He will guide us every step of the way. He will guide us every step of the way...

25 Weeks!

We're at 25 weeks! I was reading one of my pregnancy books and it said if the baby were born now, it could survive with all the technology and machines we have available! That's sort of exciting news except I work with babies that are born this early and sometimes it doesn't work out so well... it certainly would be a hard road for him/her. I'm just fine with them staying in my belly for the time being! Drew thought he felt the baby kick from the outside last night! I keep waiting and waiting for that time, this little one must be waiting to strech out on the outside.

Thinking that the time is coming nearer for this little one to be born is making me VERY nervous! I am beginning to think about all the things we need to do BEFORE they are here let alone what is to come after! It's been a busy couple of weeks lately and with Christmas coming, and vacation after that it will be here in no time...wow!
