THE story

Kerrington never ceases to amaze us...I think she might have tonight! It's 11 p.m. and we made it back home from the Emergency Department around 9:30 tonight... "Why?!" you may ask? Well, sit back, here's the story:

This afternoon around 2:45, Kerrington and I were in the living room, she was on the ground and I was sitting on the couch. It was almost nap time and she was giving Ollie a lil love (normal occasion around here), she was sitting on the ground, and bent over to lay her head on him when all the sudden she started crying. I picked her up quickly and it seemed like maybe she was hurt, but I just attributed it to her being fussy. She fell asleep eventually and all seemed O.K. After her nap, she just wouldn't let me put her down, sometimes she can be a little more clingy than usual, so I didn't think much of it. When Drew got home, he noticed when trying to put her down that she wasn't putting pressure on her left leg.

We decided to scoop her up and take her to Memorial (it was great, but oh how I missed Cincinnati Children's!). We were examined by the doctor and she ordered an x-ray and some blood work. THANK the Lord, they did the x-ray first, because that's all they needed to make a diagnosis. They called us over to the x-ray machine and I saw it instantly...a fracture!!! The doctor explained it as a 'toddler fracture'. He said it was common in children her age who are trying to get up and move around. Their bones aren't completely calcified and a bit more pliable than adults. She probably twisted her leg, and because her lil bones are all grown yet, they twisted some too and she got a closed spiral fracture.

So, they told us no blood work needed...which we were SO happy about. I actually was quite relieved when we got the news, before we went for the x-ray, the nurse was explaining some scary thing called septic joint, that some kids get. Praise God it wasn't that! K was able to get splinted and we got instructions to contact an Orthopedic doctor in a couple of days to see about a cast.

She was awesome with all the doctors, nurses, and x-ray techs. The only time she was upset was when those crazy people were messing with her leg! Our great friends, Phil and Tiffanie stopped to see us too...that was definitely a God send, they prayed with us and sure did make our girl feel better!

Our awesome, crazy nurse, Jen!

At home...all splinted and happy!

The damage...

"this is going to mean lots of extra special pampering, right mommy and daddy?"

"Right, Kerrington!"

Stacy & Drew~After 3 kids, I had never heard of that before! It's good to know for future reference bc there will come a day (hopefully about 10 years from now) when I will be a grandparent....Kerrington seems to be quite the little trooper! She will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
