"Rest" Time

I've had dilemma recently. Lil Miss K here, would just throw awful tantrums when it came to napping. There have been a few days where she would go without a nap and do just fine...no ill effects. It is in now way, shape, or form that I am ready for her to be done with napping so off I went to look for other ideas. I had heard some friends talk about implementing 'rest time' in her room, so I gave it a shot. The first day I told her she could play, but needed to stay in her room and I was going to shut the door...freak out. Didn't work. So, the next day I told her she was going to rest in her room, and we picked out a couple books for her to read. She gladly got up on her bed, and started 'reading' but I was not to shut the door! It worked like a charm! This is one pleased momma! Aaand, the best part about it? 9 times out of 10, she falls asleep anyway. I was so worried that we were getting rid of naps! Now don't get me wrong, bedtime was much more of a breeze when there isn't a nap, but it is so nice to have a break in the day! I hope this works for at least another year?! (one can hope, right!)
