Dancing Queen

'You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only three
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen'

This past fall, we put Kerrington in to a dance class here in Richmond Hill. She is our Dancing Queen. She loved it from the very beginning. In fact, I took her one week and didn't realize that the class had been cancelled for that day. She was so upset. She looks forward to this class every week. It's been a great opportunity for her to channel her crazy energy and a break for 1 hour a week for me! A win, win!

There are often days when Kerrington will perform, or even teach her class at home. She impersonates her teacher, Mrs. Teresa, and sometimes solicits her brother or me to boss around...I mean teach.

Today, the parents and family got to sit in on their recital performance. We decided not to put Kerrington in the recital, so we took this opportunity to shoot some memories. I invited my parents and brother who was in town as well.

These pictures are from their warm up and dance performance, later we moved in to another room to watch the tumbling portion of the dance. THAT is where things went south. Kerrington must have realized there were a TON of people in the room including some family members and all the sudden became very embarrassed and shy. She cried with every tumble or wheelbarrow she was asked to do.
All in all, I'm so glad that she was able to take this class. Her spirit was so beautiful to watch. I know she enjoyed it. Next year, we are hoping to enroll Kerrington in to preschool, so that might conflict with dance class, but I know she'll just love school too. I can't wait to see what God has in store!
