Scary, scary, scary...

Being an a car accident is scary. I've been in an accident before. Never have I been as scared as I was when we were rear-ended yesterday. I also have never been involved in an accident with my precious babies in the car (and Lord willing, never again).

Looking back, I already see the Lord's favor and protection over us. In the moment, and hours after, it was dramatic, and life-changing. As I was talking with a friend this morning, I began to realize, as I put things in to perspective (I am a huge perspective person), it could have been much worse.
The facts are, we're safe, we're ok, and no-one involved had any life-threatening injuries. Thank you Jesus.

Here's what happened: Kerrington, Kellan, and I were driving over to East Campus. It was the first night of VBS, and we were trying to make it (I was running late, go figure) early to eat dinner with daddy. It'd been raining during our drive, but at the time of the accident, it was only lightly sprinkling. I was on White Bluff, near the intersection of White Bluff and Montgomery Crossroad at a stop light. The light had turned red and I had come to a complete stop behind a car. I had reached for my phone to see if Drew had texted me, I had let him know I was going to need to stop for gas, when, I felt and heard that awful noise and realized we'd just been hit. My phone flew out of my hands on to the dash. My initial reaction was to turn and see if the kids were ok. They were. Both were sitting in their seats and responded that they were ok. I think that's when I remembered and realized I was pregnant, and that's when the tears began. The other drivers involved emerged to check on everyone, I, on the other hand, was frozen, and couldn't move. I instinctively reached for my phone to call Drew. I reached him and hysterically told him we were hit in an accident. He was on his way.

I checked on the kiddies a few times, and it seemed almost immediately, the police had arrived. Thankfully, the officer had come to my door while I was talking with Drew to let him know everyone was ok, and for him to come slowly and carefully (he wouldn't have been able to tell that by my reaction...I was a mess). EMS responded and made sure everyone was ok. After a few minutes, we moved the vehicles over to a parking lot so the officers could complete their reports. Drew was my hero. He started making the necessary calls, almost immediately and he was my rock. Thank the Lord he was home, and not out of town or out of the country.

After the report was taken (the lady behind me was sighted, and the lady in front of me had no damage to her car, even though my van was bumped in to hers). We began to head to the hospital. Drew had called our OB and he had advised us to head to L&D to get monitored and an ultrasound completed. My brother Aaron came and picked up the littles so they didn't have to sit in the waiting room the whole time. Bless him.

This was the sweetest sound we heard that night!

Thankfully, everything was well with me and Keaton. The ultrasound actually showed a big boy! The tech said he was measuring in the 70th percentile at 2lbs 14oz and 29 weeks. It was a blessing to get to see our lil guy's face and have the peace of mind that he was safe and sound. After about another hour of monitoring, I was released with instructions to take it easy, and take Tylenol for aches and pains. We were home, and the kids fast asleep by 10:30. It was a night that none of us could have imagined, but we were praising God that we were all home.

Drew's been taking care of all the details following the accident. I don't know what'd I do without him. I've been here at home, following doctor's orders and resting. I've had a slight headache and sore back most of the day, but I attribute a lot of it to stress and tension in my body. A nice hot shower and some time at home, alone, this evening has been tremendous.

We've been blessed by friends and family around us who've checked in, and most importantly sent prayers and blessings our way. I can't say enough how thankful I am that God's mighty hand shielded our family and kept us safe. Although its unfortunate, and we've got some unexpected events ahead, we couldn't be more thankful for our safety and health.

God is good. All the time!

Here's some pictures of the van:
