Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! It's a Tuesday, and because of the crazy Easter weekend, there is no school and daddy is off of work! You know what that means, it's time to go do something FUN! We decided to venture down to the Savannah Childrens Museum. We'd never been and today there was perfect weather to give it a try (since it's all outdoors).  We made good use of our day together, here's some pictures of our day 'o fun!

The museum shares a space with the Savannah Railroad Musuem...Kellan was in train heaven.

These two are buddies. My favorite is when he calls for her and says, "Hey Sis!"
Yeah, ignore the sign.

Monkey

There was a cute lil reading nook for the kiddies
And a favorite of my two dramatic children...dress up!

Thank goodness for boy dress up...why I didn't think of this earlier, I don't know.

Our three blessings.

Handsome, sweet, happy baby.

Life size Connect Four! How cool! Daddy didn't get a chance to play according to the rules. Just as se set up a band of kids came over and just started dropping the tokens in the slots. Oh well.

After the hot, outside museum...ice cream of course!

And a perfect end to the fun afternoon...running through the water fountains in Ellis Square! I love our city!

Happy Easter!

Our only picture taken this Easter...I'll take it!

Happy Easter from the Humphreys Family! We hope you and yours had a wonderful time celebrating the joy of our Risen Savior!

Because he lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because he lives

Happy 6 Months Keaton Jay!

Keaton Jay! You're 6 Months old (and in all honesty, I'm typing this 5 days before you turn 7 months...life is busy, but hey, at least I'm not typing it when you're turning 7 years!). Well buddy, you've been with us for a half a year already! We just love you and think you're perfect. You're easy going, as a third child has to be, and just go with our crazy flow.

Here's how you've changed in your 6 months. You're definitely a Humphreys child, but you've got your own special look. You're handsome, beautiful, cute, adorable...these are a few adjectives used to describe you (by other people).

From here on out, I anticipate your pictures with Pooh looking like this!

I think you were trying to eat his ear here.
Here's what you've been up to lately:

  • You're in 3-6, 6, and 6 month clothing. I still can squeeze you in to some 3 month clothing, but it's tight these days. I think I need to just put them away...one of the hardest things for me to do because it means you're growing up and getting bigger (waaaahhh)!
  • You're wearing size 3 diapers. And get this...mommy and daddy have not had to buy you one box of diapers yet. We've been blessed by friends and family with diapers for the first 6 months (plus) of your life! How cool and amazing is that!
  • You're still a breast feeding champ! We started some cereal on March 23rd:

And by the looks of the picture you loved it! We'll wait til your 6 month check up to get the go-ahead with other foods.

  • You're delightful. You only cry when if you're put down and rather be held, or wake up alone in your crib. Theres a pattern here...you don't like to be by yourself. With the size of our house, and how many beings we have in it, chances are that won't happen often.
  • You love both brother and sister, but I think you have a special bond with big brother. You always have the biggest giggles when he comes around.
  • You're still just rolling to get where you need to go. No forward movement yet. I'm ok with that.
  • You're working on sitting. You need help to sit up, and only last about 15 to 30 seconds if you are not being assisted.
  • You are on a pretty good schedule. You are ready for bed when brother and sister are and love to be nursed to sleep. We start out in your crib, but you end up with mommy and daddy at some point. I just can't bear to let you cry it out yet....I know we'll have to eventually let you, but I can't do it to you yet...you're just to sweet and helpless.
  • Those beautiful eyes of yours show no signs of turning brown. They are a blue/gray/green color. I love them. I'm obsessed with them. They make me happy because I wanted a baby with these color eyes. You're also much lighter toned then your bigs. You've got blond hair and I hope that stays for awhile
  • You giggle up a storm if you're tickled in your ribs.
  • You've started making your voice known too. You 'coo' and 'goo', but you also yell. You'll yell in the exersaucer when you're playing. You may think this is the normal volume at this house. If so, we're in for it.

* We had your 6 month check up! You're doing beautifully and growing like a champ! Your stats are 17lbs 8 oz and 26 1/14 inches! You're 50% for weight and 42% for length.

It's been a wonderful 6 months with you in our family! I can't wait to see how you grow in the next 6 months! Love you Keaton Jay Humphreys!

First T-Ball Practice

This is  our first introduction to the wide world of organized sports. T-Ball. Now, if you know me, I am slightly competitive, but I've given this much consideration, and my expectations are very low. I mean,  really, a three year old and a five year old, 'playing with a bunch of other three and five year olds. I'll wait a year or two to let my competitive juices flow on to my poor, unsuspecting children.

Our things, ready to go! (they have no idea what they're getting in to)

Well as you can see, Kellan was thrilled. I'm chalking it up as the newness of the situation and hopefully he'll get more in to it over the next couple of weeks. Kerrington actually had a good time, I think. She's on a team of mostly boys, but she's enjoying the instruction of her coach. Our season last eight weeks. We'll have four practices and four games. I'm excited for them to get out there and play, if nothing else, learn a little about teamwork. Here's to hoping!

Strawberry Pickin'

Kellan had his first ever school field trip today! His 2 year old class, along with the other 2 year old classes (mine included), got to go to the Bamboo Gardens and pick strawberries!

Kellan quickly found is girlfriend, whom he shall marry (his words, not mine), so they could pick (aka kick dirt) strawberries.

My lil ham, loved looking for the fishies!

Kellan and his buddy, Caden-boy.

Mrs. CJ made Strawberry Shortcakes! How cool is she?!

Kellans favorite part...the whip cream.

This one is for their wedding slide show...if they even do that sort of thing 20 years down the road.
It was a fun day! Kellan, my picky veggie and fruit eater, even tried a strawberry! Sutton may have had an influence on that, but hey, whatever it takes!

Father Daughter Banquet

SCC's Annual Father Daughter Banquet was held tonight. Drew took Kerrington so she could see and understand how we expect a young man how to treat her (MANY, many years down the road, like 30). It's a sweet, fun night that daddy got to spoil his baby girl.

Pretty girl. Ready for her date!

Daddy had a little surprise for her. She was enamored with the corsage!

They're ready to go dancing!

Kerrington and some of her sweet little friends taking time our of  dancing to snap a quick picture!

This is just too much. Don't you think?

Daddy said they had a blast. Daddy even got challenged to a hula hoop contest. He had to make 5 hula hoops spin at one time...on his body! I'm sure they got a kick out of that one!

Happy 5th Birthday Kerrington Leigh!

This is our sweet girl, the last night of being a four year old.

And this is our lil sweet girly, girl through out the years.

Kerrington is five! WHHHHAAATTT? Well, if you know her, its really not that surprising. She acts fifteen most of the time (MOST of the time). My precious girl, our first born, our only girly girl. She is the epitome of the first born child. She's very independent, very strong willed, and very opinionated. All these character traits are wonderful and I can't wait to see how God uses these for His glory in her years to come! However, these beautiful character traits have already caused many 'battles' between mommy and wanna-be mommy. On the plus side, I've always got someone to bounce ideas or thoughts off of who will give me an honest opinion. This five year is wiiiise beyond her years. Almost too much for her own good. She is perfect at emulating tone and facial expressions. I often feel like I'm staring at myself when she is in imagination-mode and is explaining to me why she had to take her baby to the doctor.

Kerrington is the BEST big sister in the United States of America. Hands down. She loves those two brothers of hers. She's a great stand in mommy when I need help, always willing to grab something I need, show Kellan how to do something, or entertain a fussy baby. I have no doubt that she will some day be a great mommy to some precious babies! Kerrington has a heart of gold. She got that from her daddy. She is sweet, kind and compassionate. She loves anyone she meets and is especially caring to kids she meets that seem to need some extra TLC. She is very aware of the people around her, and their emotions/feelings. She can recognize very quickly if someone is hurting or upset and she becomes very concerned for them. I especially love this about her. It's rare to see this in a kid her age.

Birthday Biscuits with strawberry jelly (one of her favorite breakfast foods...especially when she goes out to breakfast with her daddy)

We got to celebrate her birthday at school since it fell on a Friday this year! She walked around and showed ALL the adults her birthday pin.

K's pre-K class singing her 'Happy Birthday'

We went out to dinner at Mellow Mushroom (her choice) for her birthday dinner. She got a new Sofia night gown from Mamaw and Papaw. She's our beautiful princess!

We went for her 5 year check up a couple of days after her birthday. She was proud to show off her 'stat's' and did an awesome job. She's been anxious of doctor/dentist offices ever since we had a bad experience. Last year, at her 4 year check up, she wouldn't do the eye and ear exams. Total anxiety attack. I was worried about how she'd be this year. Other than then finger prick to test her Hemoglobin, she did wonderfully. She knew that in order to go to her new school for kindergarten in the fall, she had to do the eye and ear exams. I think that helped!

Kerrington will always be special to us. She's the first baby in our family and extended families. She's the trailblazer, and oh how appropriate for her to fulfill that role. She is beautiful, inside and out. We love her more than she EVER could imagine, and oh how God's love surpasses that. Happy Birthday Kerrington Leigh Humphreys. You are smart, you are important, you are beautiful and kind. You're the best!
