Is no sleep, for mom, dad, or baby! Our little angel has been quite the gassy lady these past few days. This has inevitably led to much fussiness, and not much peaceful sleeping. Our poor baby will kick and move her little legs like she is trying to finish the last leg of the Tour de France then all the sudden you'll hear the cutest fart, then some crying. Last night, this went on most of the night. The wee morning hours do become very hazy, so I'm sure there were some sleep in there somewhere, but neither of us think it was very much.
Another reason for the fussiness might have to do with the fact that we're TRYING, hence I capitalized trying to get our babe to sleep in her own crib, or at least the bassinet next to our bed. And yes, that means that she has been sleeping with us in bed. I know, I know, I am sure many of you are shaking your heads right now, but we did what allowed the most sleep for us (selfishly) and that was Kerrington, laying either on our next to mommy. Because I know this isn't a good idea (can lead to accidents) we have been recently trying to put her to bed in her crib. We've only tried the past two nights and it hasn't been successful. I know somethings take time though right? She's been used to being with someone at least 18-20 of the 24 hours of her life each day of the past 6 weeks of her life. It's probably going to take some time to change that idea I guess. Also, we know the best way for her to sleep is on her back, but let me tell you, the child does not enjoy that, at all. I've been putting her down for naps in her crib during the day, and she'll sleep wonderfully on her belly (and don't worry, I'm checking on her quite frequently!) The second though we lay her on her back after falling asleep, the eyes pop open, and if we wait even a few seconds, she wails. A friend of mine recommended some wedges that help the baby to stay on their back, yeah, she doesn't like that either. So, I'm looking for suggestions. What has worked for you other mommies out there? Should we just be persistent? Keep trying with the back thing? I'm open to suggestions!!!
Our little stinker, napping in her crib!
