Happy 10 Months Kellan!

Our sweet KB is 10 months old today. It's not right that he is in double digit months and I have to start planning for a 1st birthday party. What on earth happened to this year! (I can tell you what happened...its' two kids 2 and under...I dont' know how those mommies with 3 or more under 3 do it!)

Here are his pictures for today, his update is posted below!

The stinker was trying to go for my camera...hence the close picture...

He was wrestling with Pooh as well...notice the progression of pictures:

"I can take him momma!"

"Annnnddd he is down! Booo ya!"
  • You're in size 4 diapers and 9 to 12 month clothing.
  • You eat like a horse. For lunch today you had two jars of baby food, a strawberry (I sliced it in half and you ate both pieces...it was your sister's), half a small banana, a couple handfuls of Cheerios, some of your sister's bread. I even breast fed you not too soon after before your nap. You eat three meals a day and a couple snacks and are breastfeeding just 3 times a day now. You cut down significantly I feel like almost overnight!
  • You are now sleeping through the night and no longer get up to eat. Praise-alleluia! I knew you'd figure it out eventually. You sleep from about 7:15p.m. to 7a.m. You also take two naps. One at about 9:30 or 10 in the morning and another about 2 in the afternoon. You go down really well these days. I'm thankful we stuck with letting you cry it out.
  • You also learned between 9 and 10 months how to crawl on your hands and knees. You were definitely getting where you needed to go with the army crawl and still use it when you have your eye on something (or someone) but you also have mastered 'the crawl'.
  • You pull yourself up on everything...and are starting to walk along furniture. I think you'll be walking before your first birthday.
  • You're not talking yet. You just yell. Even then you don't do that too often. I think you have too much competition. I'm not in any hurry for you to talk, you sister does it enough for the both of you :)
  • You love your momma (and I love that you love me so much). I hope you stay that way for a long time!
  • You are getting your third bottom tooth. That makes a grand total of 7 so far.
The other day I was making the bed and things were pretty quiet (never good) so I went to check on you. As I was walking out of my room your army crawled out of the bathroom with an old diaper (wrapped up, and not poopy). I instantly knew you had gotten in to the trash so I went to check it out. Oh my. You had stood up at the toilet. Got the toilet paper roll off the holder and dropped it in the toilet along with pieces of a torn up magazine I had thrown away. I hope this isn't telling of the future... it sure was cute then though!

We love you to pieces. I wish you would stay this age forever. You are so much fun.

Sleep

For a glorious two weeks (give or take) now this guy has been SLEEPING through the night. Praise Jesus. Yes, my son is almost 10 months old and just now sleeping through the night. I'm not one of those moms that stresses or worries about my children sleeping through the night at 12 weeks. Thank goodness, because if I were...I'd definitely have lost it by now! I also am one of those moms that can't stand to hear my baby cry for too long. I always tell my self, this is just a season... soon enough they'll be leaving my house for college...I'll take the getting up in the night, I'll cherish EVERY moment.
KB has had his sicknesses too..if he is sick, there is no way this momma is going to let him 'cry it out'.  He pretty much weaned (night feeding) on his own, it wasn't too much of a struggle. I think we'll definitely make it to 1 year strictly breast feeding. That was my goal. After that...we'll see. Kerrington was done at 1 year, she was too busy. I'll let my lil guy decide.

I thank  God for blessing me with these two. My cup runneth over.

Happy 9 Months Kellan!

Kellan, you are 9 months old today! You're taking your morning nap right now, but before you did I snapped a couple pictures of you in the chair. You light up when the camera is around, probably because I make silly noises and try my hardest to get the biggest smile out of you yet. Here's what's going on with you this month:
  • You are barely squeezing in to any 6 month clothes, I think I need to let go of the idea that you fit in that size anymore. You're wearing mostly 9 month, some 6-12, and I bet you'd be comfortable in 12 month!
  • We moved you up to size 4 diapers! I hope you'll stay in these for a while...you sister never moved out of the 4s, maybe you'll be the same? (one can hope)
  • You LOVE to eat, and drink. In the past couple of weeks you've started eating some solid food. You love the puffs. When you go to eat them you just throw your hand up on the top of the high chair and sweep it to you...you're lucky to get more than one stuck to your hand! You've also enjoyed small pieces of bananas, teething biscuits, a few cheerios (but I got nervous), and some small pieces of bread.
  • You have mastered drinking out of a sippy cup. We've only given you water and apple juice, but you sure do enjoy it!
  • You are still breast feeding regularly. You go 3-4 hours during the day, and are still snacking at night...I'm not sure when you'll give that up.
  • You eat 3 square meals of baby food daily. You start laughing/crying when you see the food...like it's been so long since you've last eaten.
  • Last month I went on a retreat for two nights and one full day. You survived without me! We were wondering if you would because you are quite attached to your mommy right now.
  • You go to sleep really well (compared to your sis at this age). We put you in your crib and you may only cry out for 1-5mins. You take two naps during the day and are ready for bed between 7 and 7:30
  • You are pulling yourself up everywhere! This past month we had to lower your crib to the lowest setting because I came in to your room after a nap and you were standing up. You could have easily fallen out.
  • You also are crawling, with two hands and two knees (and no belly) on the ground, just a little bit. You still prefer the army crawl.
  • You gave up your pacifier. Ever since we started letting you 'cry it out' for bedtime and naps, you'd never get your pacifer back in your mouth so we decided to just go without it...makes life easier!
  • You love your sister! When you see her in the morning, you get a huge smile on your face and squeal!
  • You haven't made any sounds yet that sound like anything. You just yell for now!

We love you...

Cheerio

"Mom, what in the world have you been holding out on me for?!"

"Lemme see if I can do this..."

"Tasting"

"Tasting"

"Ah, they're alright!"

"I think I'll have another..."

KB had his first encounter with cheerios the other day! I don't think he was too sure about it all, I know he will get the hang of it soon though!(*can I note a tremendous difference between the first and second child!!! I would have NEVER fed miss K cheerios for the first time on the ground! HA!)

Happy 8 Months Kellan

Kellan! You're 8 Months old! Here's what you've been up to lately:

  • 9-12 month clothing (I still squeeze you in to some 6 or 6-9 month)

  • size 3 diapers

  • you're eating 3 solid (baby food) meals a day. Typically you eat 4-6 ounces of yogurt and some fruit in the morning, 4-6 ounces of fruit and veggie for lunch, and a whopping 8 ounces for dinner

  • you nurse pretty consistently every 3-4 hours, you love that mamma's milk!

  • I guess then that it's not surprising that you weighed 20lbs 12ounces at the doctor today!

  • you sleep best right next to your mama, I know it's not a good habit, but it is what it is. We get sleep and we're happy.

  • You have your two bottom teeth and are currently working on the top 4! Your right middle tooth is through and the left middle is almost through. You've been acting really well, just a lil fussy here and there

  • we had to go to the doctor today because you've had a fever the past few days. No ear infections, but your throat was red, you're absolutely miserable when you have a fever, all you want to do is to be held by your mama...I wish I could sit and hold you all day!

  • you are scooting all over the house...you're actually a great floor cleaner. I get disgusted every time I pick you up after you've scooted because there is dog hair all over your shirt and it's even dirty...I could have just swept and mopped, ugh!

  • you have started to get on your knees, and look like you might start 'crawling' any day now

  • you make 'ooooo' and 'aaahh' sounds, but nothing that sounds like a word! I can't wait to hear what your first word is going to be, it's a wonder you get any noises in, your sister doesn't stop talking!

  • you have a head full of light brown/dark blond hair, and some caaarraaazzyy cowlicks...you and your sis look dead on each other right now, she had much darker hair when she was this age though

  • you're sweet as can be, when you smile, your WHOLE face smiles! I live for those smiles!

You're such a blessing. You have happy, joyful disposition. You love your sister, and put up with a lot. I know that you'll soon out grow her and I've told her a few times that once you're big enough I'm gonna let you take a few swings at her for free...(just kidding, maybe). I've so enjoyed loving you and watching you grow these past eight months! Love you my lil 'buggers'!

(I'll add pics soon!)

Happy 7 Months Kellan (July 4th)

(I'm just now getting around to this...K was in the hospital, and then we went on vacation and just plain busy, sorry buggers!)

Happy 7 Months Kellan!

You turned 7 months on our Nations Birthday! We were up in Indiana celebrating with Gigi and Papa, but I managed to snap some pictures of you before we left. I remember your sister at this month distinctly because this was the exact month that it became more difficult to get a picture of you not moving...

see!

You also became aware of the huge stuffed Pooh bear that I have been placing next to you. I think you were giving him the stare down here!

I had to put the sign waaay up at the top of the chair and then distract you by screaming your name and acting all goofy. Oh if there were video cameras catching all this nonsense....

Okay, so here's what you're up to these days:

  • 6-9 month clothing, but you're leaning towards the 9 month clothing. After all, you were a honkin 18 lbs 9 oz at your 6 month check up.

  • Size 3 diapers

  • Breastfeeding, just about every 3 hours still. You'll go 4 sometimes, and a few nights you'll actually go a bit longer, but not too often. You're eating twice a day, but I'm gonna start feeding you 3 times a day. You always look so jealous when we go to eat lunch, like we are leaving you out! I think you're ready!

  • You're on the move! You're scootin yourself all over the place! I put you down in the living room the other day, and you followed me in to the kitchen where I was unloading the dishwasher...which leads me to my next point...

  • I think you're starting to develop a strong case of separation anxiety from your momma! You are a strong fella and if you want to get back to your mommy, you'll just swing your whole body which ever way I am!

  • You have your two bottom teeth still, but you're definitely going to be getting your top (and I think the next bottom ones) very soon. I can see some white areas, and you drool and stick EVERYTHING in your mouth so it's just a matter of time.

  • You had your first plane ride at 7 months.

  • You are sitting up on your own now, but you're not so graceful when you get down to your belly. You just fall over and sometimes it's a little to hard!

  • You are so happy. It's crazy. You just smile all the time! You get upset if I put you down and you don't want to be down, or if you're tired or hungry, but who wouldn't?!

We love you like crazy...all of us!! You don't know how happy you make us. Your sister always asks to see you in the morning and she just lights up when you look at her with those smiley eyes. You're a sweet, sweet boy and I can't wait to see how your personality develops over the next few months!
